Conductance vs Load Testers

Conductance analyzers and carbon-pile testers are different methods. Pick the method your procedure requires.

Direct answer

Conductance analyzers and carbon-pile testers are different methods. Pick the method your procedure requires.

Common confusion

Retail listings often use “load tester” loosely, but a conductance estimate is not a true carbon-pile load.

What changes the decision

Start with the required procedure

Conductance estimates battery condition electronically. A carbon pile applies a physical adjustable load. If the service procedure specifies one, do not select the other merely for convenience.

Manufacturer evidence ↗: Clore’s 1874/1876 sheet specifies variable carbon-pile loading and separate battery-rating limits.

Fixed load is a third distinction

SOLAR 1852 applies a fixed load; 1874 and 1876 provide variable carbon-pile loading. Our true-load branch does not make every member interchangeable for a particular procedure.

Method does not waive safety limits

Check voltage, battery rating, chemistry and the manufacturer’s operating instructions. This buying guide is not a load-current or test-duration procedure.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a retail listing call an analyzer a load tester?

The term is used loosely. Use the documented method rather than the listing title; we keep the method fields separate.

Can the engine swap to conductance when no load tester fits?

Not automatically. A guided alternative must disclose a change and cannot treat a different method as an exact fit.

Can a physical-load tool also satisfy printed proof?

None of these three physical-load models has a verified printer. Paper requirements can therefore create a genuine no-exact-fit case.
